Heritage & Hope: Opening Hearts

Middle School English Teacher Phil Erickson welcomed almost 450 guests to the seventh annual Heritage & Hope Dinner.  Mr. Erickson explained that when he attended the first Heritage & Hope Dinner, and saw the students who were helped by this scholarship fund, he was struck to the depth of his heart how important these students were to Minnehaha.  He has supported the fund ever since and encouraged guests, with God's help, to be grateful and to be generous. And guests did just that by donating funds to provide deserving students an exceptional Christian education at Minnehaha through tuition assistance.

The evening’s theme of Opening Hearts recognized Minnehaha’s legacy of sacrifice to make Christian education possible. Scholarship recipients Danyelle Robinson and Lars Askegaard spoke about how grateful they are for the opportunity to attend Minnehaha. They recognize this would not be possible with the support of generous donors. Danyelle spoke about faith being the stand-out reason why Minnehaha is so special to her. Coming from a Covenant family, she is glad to be at a school that helps her to better understand her faith. Lars sees that at Minnehaha, students are taught how to be leaders and to serve others. Whether on the playing field or in the orchestra, students model how to be humble and encourage one another, showing there is purpose to everything at Minnehaha.

Thank you to the guests and supporters of Heritage & Hope. Through your gifts of prayer and financial support, you provide students with the best education that integrates Christian faith and learning.

If you were unable to attend Heritage & Hope, but would like to support the scholarship fund, you can do so on the online scholarship donation page.
